Applications of Polylactic Acid (PLA) Environmental Materials

What is PLA?

PLA, also known as polylactic acid, is a biodegradable plastic derived from plant starch, primarily from renewable resources such as corn starch. Unlike traditional plastics, which are derived from non-renewable petroleum and natural gas through distillation and polymerization, PLA is classified as a “bioplastic” due to its biological origins.

PLA finds extensive applications in common items such as packaging bags, agricultural films, textile fibers, and cups. Initially, packaging materials made from PLA were relatively expensive, but they have now become one of the most common types of packaging materials. Through processes such as extrusion, injection molding, and stretching, PLA can be transformed into fibers and films. The water and gas permeability of PLA films is generally lower than that of polystyrene films. Since water and gas molecules diffuse through the amorphous regions of polymers, the permeability of PLA films can be adjusted by modifying the crystallinity of the PLA.

What are the uses of Kinpolym modified pla materials?

Kinpoly manufacturing biodegradable PLA and modified PLA material. Our material can be used in many field such as disposable cutlery/films&bags/tableware/3D printing filament/3D printing pellets etc.And our materials meet BPI, DIN, OK COMPOST HOME certification.

Kinpolym is committed to providing targeted biodegradable material solutions based on customer requirements and application scenarios.
